TIME began as a submission for the 12th Encontro Internacional de Ilustração (EEI) in São João da Madeira, where participants were invited to interpret the theme Time through two illustrations.
What started as a competition entry soon became a personal project.
Rather than viewing time as something measured in hours, I chose to explore humanity's limited time on Earth and the consequences of our relationship with the environment. The original series addressed ocean pollution and deforestation, and I later expanded it with a third illustration focusing on air pollution and the impact of industrial development.
Together, the three illustrations reflect on the urgency of environmental change while leaving space for hope that there is still time to act.
